Domino Stones

When in the first half of the 18th century the most popular card games in Wrocław were trappola, lombr and toccatille, in gardens on the city suburbs people started playing dominoes which in the next century gained the name of a lady game.
Its motive became a nice inspiration for confectionery compositions, and restaurateurs knowing their own worth as well as café owners always served domino stones in two colours.

  • 2 yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 200 g sugar
  • 2 spoons of lemon juice and teaspoon of rum
  • 100 wheat flour
  • bar of white chocolate
  • 100 potato flour
  • bar of dessert chocolate
  • 125 g dissolved butter
  • raspberry preserves

Compact egg and yolk with sugar on steam to a heavy, fluffy mass and lightly cool it.
Mix both flour types with baking powder and add with spoon in 2-3 portions to the mass, constantly mixing it up.
In the end add cooled butter, lemon juice and rum, mix everything.
Bake on the flat metal sheet until the dough rises about 2 cm.
After cooling it down, cut the cake into pieces 3 x 6 cm.
Break every chocolate bar in turn. Next, dissolve it in the water bath, pour the half of the sliced dough with white and the second one with dark chocolate.
After hardening, put dark points onto the bright cookies, like on domino stones, whereas on the dark cookies - bright spots.
Serve domino cookies in different colours with raspberry preserves.
